Northwest of Nederland, Boulder County’s Caribou Ranch Open Space has been home to nomadic peoples, a silver mine, a recording studio, a Hollywood movie set, train tracks for the Switzerland Trail railroad and more. As an artist-in-residence there, Ellen Orleans hiked trails, sat by creeks, and watched wildlife and wildflowers, the clouds and the moon. Against this backdrop, she began imagining lives of those who visited Caribou before her.
